Checkley vs Stone.
Stone won by 4 runs.
Stone won the toss and elected to bat first at Four Trees. Professional Warrick Fynn made 54 at the top of the order, which included nine 4’s. No other top-order batter could get going, though, and it was left to Daniel Lunn 27* and James Green 33* to add an unbroken 74 for the 8th wicket to get them up to 194/7 from their 45-over allocation. EJ Laverty claimed 3/43 as he was the pick of the Checkley bowlers. Richard Cooper and Jack Farrington both claimed two wickets apiece during the innings.
Checkley lost James Abbotts and Tom Carrigan early before James Kettleborough made 45 to continue his good run of form. Nils Priestley then added a 45-ball 57 that included three 4’s and five 6’s as he looked to be taking his team to victory. Checkley continued to lose wickets, though, and when Priestley was dismissed at 146/7, the lower order still had work to do. Laverty and Farrington then added 25 before Laverty was dismissed 24 runs short of their target. Farrington and Cooper then took the score to 190 before Reid Taylor dismissed Farrington. Charlie Lewis then fell 3 balls later as Stone secured a narrow victory. Green followed up his 33* with 3/39 with the ball as he had a tremendous afternoon. Isaac Rowley also claimed 3/45. Fynn and Taylor shared 4 wickets between them.
Leek vs Meakins.
Meakins won by 74 runs.
Meakins won the toss and elected to bat first at Highfield. Meakins lost Ash Shaw and Karl High early as they slipped to 31/2. Peter Wilshaw then made 38 to steady the ship. It was to be Jalat Khan who was the rock of the innings, though he made a run-a-ball 70, which included eight boundaries as he took Meakins towards a good total. Jack Hammond then made 41* from just 28 balls as his side closed on 246/7 from their 45 overs. Joshua Hudson claimed 3/40, and Anis Raza took 3/44, but they could do nothing about Hammond’s late onslaught.
Leek lost Matthew Morris and Hamaiz Mahmood early as their reply started poorly. Alex Mellor made 62 at number 5, but he received no support from the other batters, and Leek fell well short of their target, closing on 172/8. Simon Mugava 2/24, Ash Shaw 2/37 and Karl High 2/22 did the most damage for Meakins as they secured a comfortable victory.
Moddershall vs Longton.
Moddershall won by 10 wickets.
Longton won the toss and elected to bat at Barnfields. That was about the only thing that went right for Longton as they were quickly blown away for just 59 by some excellent Moddershall bowling. Aizaz Ahmed and Sam Kelsall both claimed 3 wickets apiece after the new ball bowlers had taken four wickets between them. The pair finished with 3/10 and 3/6, respectively, as the Longton batters offered very little resistance.
Kelsall and Muaaz Ahmed then knocked the runs off in 16.1 overs as Moddershall secured a crushing victory. Ahmed made 31* and Kelsall 27*.
Porthill vs Audley.
Audley won by 94 runs.
Audley won the toss and elected to bat at the Old County ground. Oliver Wilde made 54 at the top of the order for Audley. He was supported by Ash Rogers, who made a run-a-ball 59, which included four 4’s and four 6’s. Ed Jones added 43, which included three 4’s and three 6’s, as Audley scored at a good rate throughout their innings. Matt Coxon 3/50 and Ben Holt 3/40 were the pick of the Porthill bowlers, but the rest struggled to contain the Audley batters as they closed on 269/8 from their 45 overs.
Tom Steele and Tom Longworth got the Porthill chase off to a good start. They added 97 for the first wicket before Longworth was dismissed from the final ball of the 20th over for 43 from 58 balls. From there, though the game slipped away from Porthill as they lost wickets at regular intervals and were finally dismissed for 175 in the 44th over. Tom Steele made a very good 81 but just had no support. His innings contained eight fours and lasted 99 balls.
Audley professional claimed 4/16 from 9 accurate overs of left arm spin as he kept the Porthill batters in check. Rob Hemmings backed him up well with figures of 3/33 as his team secured a comfortable victory.
Whitmore vs Eccleshall.
Eccleshall won by 89 runs.
Whitmore won the toss and elected to field at the Gemini Ground. Tom Hibbert made 41 for Eccleshall at the top of the order after they were reduced to 20/2. Whitmore took regular wickets throughout the innings as no Eccleshall batsmen could kick on from the starts that they made. Bilal Hussain was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 3/14. He was well supported by Dilesh Gunarathne, Matthew McAll and Caleb Mierkalns, who all took two wickets each as Eccleshall were bowled all out for 150.
Whitmore’s reply got off to the worst possible start when Matthew Wright bowled Mierkalns with the first ball. He then took the wicket of McAll with the final delivery of the first over as Whitmore were reduced to 0/2. That quickly became 27/7 as Wright and Oliver Palmer ran riot with the new ball. Whitmore were dismissed for just 61 as the impressive Wright wrapped up the innings to finish with figures of 5/21. Palmer and Eranga Dissanagge shared 4 wickets as Eccleshall ran out comfortable winners.
