Audley vs Meakins.

Audley won by 54 runs.

Audley won the toss and elected to bat. Amaan Tariq took three early wickets as Audley tumbled to 53/4. Ash Rogers then made a patient 39 from 79 balls with five boundaries before he was the 9th wicket to fall with 119 on the board. Jalat Khan had ripped through their middle and lower order with figures of 4/15. Tariq finished with 3/37 as Audley were bowled all out for 125.

Ed Jones (3/8) and Rob Hemmings (6/26) were then superb with the ball as they bowled the visitors all out for just 71. It could have been worse if Jon Clowes (26*) with two 4s and two 6s and Tariq (10) had not added 30 for the 10th wicket.

Checkley vs Moddershall.

Match Drawn.

Moddershall won the toss and elected to field in the top-of-the-table clash. James Kettleborough (86) and Tom Carrigan (65) added 152 for the 1st wicket as Checkley seized the early momentum. Carrigan struck eight 4s before he was dismissed. He was the first of 3 wickets to fall with the score on 152 as Moddershall began their fightback. Kettleborough hit eight 4s and four 6s in his 104-ball knock. James Abbotts struck three 4s and one six in his 34 before Nils Priestley made 38 off 45 balls with six 4s as Checkley closed on 243/7 off their 55 overs. Sam Atkinson, Jake Garlick, and Danushka Sandaruwan all claimed two wickets each.

EJ Laverty took three wickets to reduce the visitors to 69/4 before Fraser Hawkins made 31 from 50 balls to stop the early slide. Further contributions from Atkinson (24) and Alfie Womble (22) took them to 177/8 before Jack Darlington (26) from 69 balls and Sandaruwan (13) from 24 helped them secure the draw. Laverty finished with 3/52. Sithembile Langa and Richard Cooper shared four wickets between them but could not end Moddershall’s dogged resistance when the players shook hands.

Hem Heath vs Longton.

Hem Heath won by 10 wickets.

Hem Heath won the toss and elected to field. Only Andrew Coxon (18) and Dane Tinsley (16) offered any resistance as Longton were once again blown away. They collapsed from 39/3 after Bilawal Bhatti had taken three early wickets to 67 all out as Liam Banks (3/26) and Dan Richardson (4/12) ripped through their lower order. Bhatti claimed 3/24 as he knocked over the top order.

Hem Heath then raced to victory in just 11.5 overs, with Matthew Hodson (30) with six 4s and Banks (36) also with six boundaries, completed a crushing victory as Longton’s struggles continue.

Newcastle & Hartshill vs Leek.

Newcastle & Hartshill won by 3 wickets.

Castle won the toss and elected to field. Alex Mellor was the mainstay of the Leek innings. He made 63 from 134 balls with six 4s as he guided his side to 170 all out. Castle took wickets at regular intervals around him, and he could never build a substantial partnership with any batter, which would have led to a bigger score. Mo Rameez was once again the pick of the bowlers, finishing with 3/28. Joe Thorne and Kasun Ekanayaka both claimed two wickets each as they offered good support.

Jon Gidman continued his good form as he made 71 off 133 balls with nine 4s and a six as he added 94 for the 2nd wicket with Mohammed Ishtiaq (30) after the early loss of Ryan Hassett. When Gidman was dismissed, leaving the score 134/4, Leek began to fight back. They took another 3 wickets for 30 runs, but Castle had just enough left in the tank to sneak over the line. Tom Moulton and Rory Corden both took two wickets each, but in the end it wasn’t enough for the visitors.

Porthill vs Whitmore.

Porthill won by 44 runs.

Porthill won the toss and elected to bat. John Hancock made a solid 63, which contained eight 4s and one six for the home side at the top of the order after they’d lost two early wickets. Whitmore continued to chip away and had reduced them to 160/7 before Ben Holt smashed a remarkable 53* from just 22 balls with six 4s and four 6s as 73 runs were added in the final 7 overs to completely change the momentum as Porthill closed on 233/8 from their 55 overs. Muhammad Imran was the pick of the bowlers, and he finished with 3/53. Bilal Hussain added two more wickets, but they could do nothing to stop Holt’s boundary blitz.

Whitmore quickly found themselves 37/5 before Imran and Caleb Mierkalns both scored 46 as they added 62 for the 6th wicket, as Whitmore battled hard to get themselves back into the match after their poor start. After their partnership was broken, Hussain (25) and Dilesh Gunarathe (23*) added late runs, but they came up well short of their victory target. Matt Coxon claimed 4/59 as his good season with the ball continues. Ben Green (3/29) offered fine support as they had too much in the end for the visitors. Porthill’s win takes them 38 points above 11th placed Whitmore, who’ve really got their work cut out if they want to play at this level next season.
