Bignall End vs Porthill 2nd XI.
Bignall End won by 8 wickets.
Porthill won the toss and elected to bat. Only Tom Mason offered any resistance with the bat for the visitors. He made an unbeaten 32, but a fine bowling performance from Liam Hassett, who claimed 6/26, reduced Porthill to just 99 all out. Aunn Shah offered good support with the ball as he picked up 3/28.
Porthill did pick up two early wickets to give themselves a chance, but Leo Francisco 33* and George Harding 37* saw the home side over the line in just 17.4 overs for a crushing victory.
Congleton vs Cheadle 2nd XI.
Match Drawn.
Congleton won the toss and elected to bat. Jack Higginbotham made 36 from 57 balls with six fours after the home side had been reduced to 62/3. Cheadle continued to chip away at the home side’s batting order and had reduced them to 174/9 before Sean Cardell and Owen Lees added 47 for the last wicket as they were bowled out for 221 in the final over. Cardell struck 34 from 45 balls with three fours to get his side to a competitive total. Jack Winfield claimed 3/42 from 11 overs as he was the pick of the bowlers for the visitors. Sam Akram also chipped in with 3/45 before Oliver Stokes and Louie Welford shared 4 wickets.
Scott Harvey struck a fine 52 at the top of the order for the visitors with five fours and four sixes as they recovered from 34/3. He didn’t receive much support, and it soon became a battle for survival for the visitors. Guy Baxendale claimed 4/49 as Congleton pushed for victory. John Copeland and Higginbotham shared 4 wickets between them, but the home side could not part the last pair of Welford 16* from 58 balls and Stokes 16* from 10, and Cheadle closed on 185/9 from 51 overs to secure a draw.
Crewe vs Checkley 2nd XI.
Crewe won by 9 wickets.
Crewe won the toss and elected to bowl. Richard Williams made 28 with two fours, but he was the only Checkley batsman to offer any resistance as they were bowled out for just 89. Faisal Mahmood was superb with the ball, and he claimed fantastic figures of 7/22 as he caught the Checkley batters in a web of spin.
Tate Rutter made an unbeaten 38 with five fours and a six before Rory Kalnins blasted 40 from just 21 balls with five fours and two sixes as the home side raced to their target in just 11.2 overs, securing a dominant victory.
Endon vs Sandyford.
Endon won by 99 runs.
Endon won the toss and elected to bat. Simon Tucker made a 23-ball 32 with five fours and two sixes as he got the home side off to a flying start. Alex Gilson was more patient for his 30. It took him 84 balls, and contained four boundaries. Josh Reynolds added 26* from 62 balls with a four and a six before Brad Spooner made 26 with four fours, as Endon closed on 170/7 from their 50 overs. Neil Skillcorn was the pick of the Sandyford bowlers as he finished with 3/32.
Sandyford were quickly in trouble when they were reduced to 11/4 after the tea break. Kalhara Senarathne made 32 from 44 balls with six fours as he attempted to rebuild the innings; once he was dismissed, it became a procession, and the visitors were bowled out for just 71 with Ed Smith bagging impressive figures of 4/9. Simon Read claimed 3/20 as he was impressive with the new ball as the home side secured their 11th victory of the season.
Oakamoor vs Stafford.
Oakamoor won by 3 runs.
Oakamoor won the toss and elected to bat. Joe Avery made 57 as he got the home side off to a good start. He struck ten boundaries in his innings as he shared 67 for the opening wicket with Tom Sherratt (23). Ahmad Khan added 26 with two fours and a six before Kristofer Heathcote made an unbeaten 26 from 18 balls with three fours and a six as Oakamoor closed on 181/6 from their 50 overs. Himasha Liyange, Rob James and Ethan Sherriff shared 6 wickets between them for the visitors.
Seth Jones made a fine 78 as Stafford got off to a good start. He struck twelve fours and a six in his 98-ball stay at the crease. He added 58 with Liyange (20) for the 2nd wicket. The home side began to chip away at the Stafford batting line-up before Jainesh Patel made 36 from just 29 balls with four fours and two sixes as he took the visitors to 164/7 before being dismissed by Khan to set up a close finish. Khan then dismissed Ian Young before Joe Degg bowled Matthew Turner to secure a narrow victory for the home side. Heathcote was the pick of the bowlers and claimed 4/36 from 11 overs. Khan finished with 3/43 as the drama unfolded.
Silverdale vs Leycett.
Leycett won by 50 runs.
Silverdale won the toss and elected to bowl. The visitors had been reduced to 31/2 before Dan Redfern made 51 from 90 balls with 9 fours as he added 66 for the 3rd wicket with Tom Warburton (56). Warburton struck ten fours in his 73-ball stay at the wicket as Leycett looked to build a big total. Silverdale began to chip away, and Niall Redman claimed 3/22 before Kasun Abeysinghe and Matt Myatt shared 4 wickets as Leycett were bowled out for 171.
Silverdale just couldn’t get going after the tea break. Abeysinghe made 29 from 64 balls with four fours, but he received little support as the Leycett bowlers got into their work. Yohan Maddege continued his fine summer as he bagged 4/25 to be the pick of the bowlers. Matt Johnson, Dan Gibbs, and Gamindu Kanishka all claimed 2 wickets each as the visitors secured their 11th victory of the season and remain at the top of the league.
