Audley vs Hem Heath.
Audley won by 50 runs.
Audley won the toss and elected to bat. Having been reduced to 23/3 by some accurate new-ball bowling from Liam Banks and Bilawal Bhatti. Oliver Wilde (25) and Hashim Rabi Ahmed (64) from 100 balls with eleven fours added 82 for the 4th wicket as they began the rebuilding effort. Ash Rogers then made 45 from 55 balls with five fours and two sixes as he shared 66 with Rob Hemmings (25) as the home side closed on 198/8 from their 55 overs. Callum Leese was the pick of the bowlers for the visitors as his off-spin claimed 4/31. Banks chipped in with a further 2 wickets as the visitors worked well to keep the score down.
Rob Hemmings took two early wickets, including the big one of Banks as Hem Heath slumped to 24/3. Ben Pugh made a defiant 41 from 77 balls with six fours as he added 68 with Dan Richardson (26) for the 4th wicket, but the wheels fell off for Hem Heath when they both departed. Bhatti was the last man out for a battling 29 as the visitors were bowled out for 148. Jack Redman caught the middle order in a web of spin and finished with impressive figures of 5/36 as he did the bulk of the damage. Hemmings and Alex Coates shared 4 wickets as the home side ran out comfortable winners.
Eccleshall vs Checkley.
Eccleshall won by 4 wickets.
Checkley won the toss and elected to bat. James Abbotts’ fine season continued as he made a battling 82 from 90 balls with eight fours and a six as wickets fell around him in a hurry. Sithembile Langa made 32 with four fours and a six as the visitors were bowled out for 193 with over 8 overs of their allocation remaining. Matthew Wright claimed wickets with the new ball, and he returned to mop up the tail as he finished with superb figures of 6/61 from 13 overs.
Ben Rogerson made a fine 97 from 103 deliveries with fifteen fours and two sixes as he took his side to the brink of the winning line. He added 107 with Tom Hibbert for the opening wicket. Hibbert made 35, which contained six boundaries as the home side got off to the perfect start. Langa and Richard Cooper shared 4 wickets between them, but the visitors never recovered after the fine opening stand, and Eccleshall made their way to a nervy victory in the end.
Meakins vs Moddershall.
Meakins won by 3 wickets.
Moddershall won the toss and elected to bat. Muaaz Ahmed made a run-a-ball 44 for the visitors at the top of the order that contained six fours and two sixes as he shared 64 with Arjun Annamalia (42) for the second wicket. Annamalia struck three fours and four sixes in his 72-ball stay at the crease, but when he was dismissed, the home side’s bowlers got to work. Jon Clowes claimed 3 top-order wickets as he finished with 3/38 from 10 overs. Oliver Tucker claimed 3/20 with his off-spin as the visitors were bowled out for 182. Karl High and Jalat Khan shared the other 4 wickets between them as the home side fought back well.
Ash Shaw (30) with three fours and six and Simon Mugava (30) with four boundaries added 56 for the 1st wicket before they fell in quick succession. Moddershall mounted a fightback of their own, and Danushka Sandaruwan claimed 4/54 as the home side fell to 138/7. Jack Hammond then teamed up with High as they added an unbeaten 56 in 13.5 overs to take the home side to a narrow victory. Hammond finished unbeaten on 29 from 37 balls with three fours, and High made a patient 22* from 51 balls with three fours to secure the points.
Longton vs Porthill.
Porthill won by 141 runs.
Longton won the toss and elected to bowl. John Hancock played a fine hand at the top of the order for the visitors. He made 70 from 99 balls, which included ten fours and a six. Matt Coxon kept him company in a 4th wicket stand worth 111 as he added 73 from 85 balls with seven fours and two sixes as the visitors set up a good platform for a big score. Oliver Shirley chipped in with a run-a-ball 38 with six fours as Porthill declared on a mammoth 276/6 from 50 overs. Nalin Priyadarshan grabbed a couple of wickets for the home side, but they just couldn’t stop the flow of runs.
Andrew Coxon made 23 at the top of the order before Dane Tinsley made 49 from 78 balls with eight fours and a six before Longton subsided to just 135 all out when their lower order was once again blown away. Left-arm seamer Ben Holt bagged 4/48 as he did the bulk of the damage. The ever-reliant Matt Coxon finished his fine day with 3/10 from 11 overs as the visitors secured a crushing victory.
Stone vs Newcastle & Hartshill.
Newcastle & Hartshill won by 24 runs.
Newcastle and Hartshill won the toss and elected to bat. Jon Gidman made 43 at the top of the order for Castle. His knock included seven fours as he added 55 for the 1st wicket with Ryan Hassett (21). Rohan Vallabhaneni made 31 from 34 balls with three fours and a six as the visitors’ good start continued. Warrick Fynn began to chip away at the Castle batting line-up in tandem with Reid Taylor. They finished with 5/34 and 3/45 respectively as Stone clawed their way back into the game. They bowled the visitors out for 191 after they’d been 143/3 in the 32nd over and gave themselves a chance of victory.
George Hawbrook made an attacking 27 from 17 balls with four fours and a six as he tried to get his team off to a flying start. Jack Harvey added 28 with six boundaries as Stone were 82/3 when he was dismissed. Fynn made a patient 32 from 82 balls with 3 boundaries, but Castle continued to take wickets around him. Joey Sharp added 24 and Dan Lunn 20, but it wasn’t enough, and the visitors wrapped up a narrow victory. Harry Bailey was the pick of the Castle bowlers, and he finished with 3/17 from 10 overs. He got good support from Guy Bridgett, who bagged 3/29.
