Checkley 2nd XI vs Cheadle 2nd XI.
Checkley won by 17 runs.
Checkley won the toss and elected to bat. An early burst from Ray Ginders left the home side in trouble at 37/4. Aaron Whitehurst then made a steady 38 with seven fours to begin the rebuilding effort with Lorcan Potts, who made 42 with six boundaries as the pair shared 85 for the 5th wicket. Ginders finished with 4/43 from 11 overs as Checkley were bowled out for 190 in the 48th over.
Ben Degg made an attacking 25 from only 18 balls at the top of the order for Cheadle, but they were soon in trouble at 93/6. Jack Degg then ground out 54 from 100 balls with seven fours to pull his side back into the game. Ryan Harvey’s 30 with six boundaries looked as though it had swayed the game in Cheadle’s favour before Matt Shaw returned to dismiss him and secure a narrow victory for the home side. He finished with 4/30 from 10 overs, with Peter Appleboam lending good support with 3/28 as Checkley picked up a vital win.
Endon vs Congleton.
Congleton won by 116 runs.
Congleton won the toss and elected to bat. Logan Hislop made a patient 43 from 85 balls with three fours to give the visitors a good start. Jack Higginbotham added 40, containing three fours and a six as the pair shared 74 for the 4th wicket. Simon Read returned to mop up the lower order, finishing with excellent figures of 5/50 from 10 overs as Congleton closed on 202/9 from their 50 overs.
Higginbotham claimed 4/25 from 7 overs after the tea break as no Endon batter could get going in the second innings. Guy Baxendale offered fine support, claiming 3/15 from 11 overs as Endon subsided to just 86 all out.
Leycett vs Bignall End.
Bignall End won by 9 wickets.
Leycett won the toss and elected to bat. Ben Shirley made a patient 44 at the top of the order for the home side. His 94-ball knock contained eight fours as they recovered well from 13/2. Gamindu Kanishka then made 51 with seven fours before Yohan Maddege added a breezy 32 with seven boundaries from only 20 balls as Leycett were bowled out for 222 in the final over. Liam Hassett was superb with the ball, picking up 4/22 from 11 overs. George Harding offered good support with 3/33 as the visitors restricted Leycett well.
Ahsam Zaroof stroked a splendid 116* from 142 balls with fifteen fours and two sixes as he expertly guided his side to a clinical 9-wicket victory after the tea break. Leo Francisco added his own unbeaten 75 with nine fours and a six, sharing an unbroken partnership of 178 with Zaroof for the 2nd wicket as Bignall End cruised to their target with 5.5 overs to spare.
Porthill 2nd XI vs Stafford.
Stafford won by 57 runs.
Stafford won the toss and elected to bat. Guy Seaton got the visitors off to a steady start with 33 that contained five fours. Himasha Liyange then laid into the home side’s bowling attack. He blasted an unbeaten 160 from just 131 balls with 20 fours and five sixes, smashing the Porthill bowlers to smithereens in the process. This allowed Stafford to pile up a mammoth 273/4 before they declared after 48 overs.
Zain-Ali Muhammad made 33 at the top of the order for the home side with six fours before George Cairns added a 43-ball 47 with nine fours and a six, but Porthill couldn’t hold on to secure a draw as they were bowled out for 216 in the 53rd over. Ethan Sherriff claimed 3/31, and Hamish Jefferson also took 3/31, bowling Stafford to an important victory.
Sandyford vs Oakamoor.
Oakamoor won by 7 wickets.
Sandyford won the toss and elected to bat. An excellent bowling performance from the visitors shot Sandyford out for just 77 in 24.1 overs. James Jackson was tremendous with the new ball, bagging 4/19 from his 11 overs. Ahmad Khan offered good support with 4/43 as the opening pair ran through the home side’s batting line-up.
Khan smacked 39 from 31 balls with seven fours and a six to get Oakamoor over the line in 16.5 overs after the tea break, securing them a comfortable victory on the road.
Silverdale vs Crewe.
Silverdale won by 6 wickets.
Crewe won the toss and elected to bat. Callum Harrison produced a superb spell of seam bowling to reduce the visitors to just 80 all out. He returned figures of 6/37 from 9 overs to do the bulk of the damage. There were two wickets each for Will Shenton and Matt Smith as the home side were excellent. Only Calum Meakin offered any resistance with the bat for the visitors. He made 28 from 30 balls with five fours to rescue them somewhat from 49/8.
Matt Moore made 28 at the top of the order for the home side with five boundaries as he set them on their way to a comfortable victory.
