Betley vs Newcastle & Hartshill 2nd XI.
Newcastle & Hartshill won by 2 wickets.
Betley won the toss and elected to bat. Jonathan Phipps made a 32-ball 37 with seven fours and a six as Betley recovered from 52/4 once Phipps was dismissed, though the home side collapsed to just 113 all out in the 29th over. Isaac McKeown, Ben Fullwood, Rob Hagan and Jacob Maddock all claimed two wickets each for Castle as they bowled well.
Carlyle Collins made 40 at the top of the order for the visitors with four fours and three sixes, as Castle started their chase well. Simon Wood added 36 with seven fours and a six before Castle started to wobble. Jimmy Jinks claimed 4/10 before Hagan smashed an unbeaten 14 from just 5 balls to get his side over the line. Harvey Lowe bagged 3/39, but it wasn’t enough for the home side.
Elworth 2nd XI vs Blythe.
Blythe won by 3 wickets.
Elworth won the toss and elected to bat. Matthew Yardley anchored the Elworth innings with a majestic 115 from 158 balls, with fourteen fours and two sixes, as they set about building a big score. Sam Baldwin added 32, which included six boundaries, sharing 75 with Yardley for the 2nd wicket. Wallace Mubayiwa made a breezy 33 at the end of the innings with three fours and a six as the home side closed on 232/8 from their 50 overs. Scott Degg claimed 3/23 with his wily left-arm spin to put the brakes on the scoring in the middle overs. There were two wickets each for Craig Grimley and Peter Finch.
Blythe made a poor start and early wickets for Mike Holt and Mubayiwa reduced them to 68/4. Umair Mushtaq then made a match-winning 85 from 80 balls with seven fours and six sixes. Josh Jackson offered fine support with 64, containing eight fours and a six as Blythe snuck over the line with 15 balls remaining for their 5th consecutive victory. Holt and Gurpreet Singh shared 4 wickets between them, but it wasn’t enough for Elworth.
Hanford vs Meir Heath.
Hanford won by 4 wickets.
Meir Heath won the toss and elected to bat. Farrhuk Javed made a 20-ball 30 at the top of the order for the visitors with four fours and two sixes. Aqib Ali then added 37 with seven fours, but Khalid Jamal claimed 4/50 and Meir Heath were bowled out for just 151. Bassit Mahmood and Dan Hall both claimed two wickets each to offer good support.
Dilmon Jacob made a brisk 36 with seven fours, getting the home side off to a good start. Jamal made a patient 30 with five fours as Hanford started their innings well. Uttam Das (24) and Muhammad Afzaal (22*) then took the home side to victory with more than 20 overs to spare.
Moddershall 2nd XI vs Eccleshall 2nd XI.
Moddershall won by 124 runs.
Eccleshall won the toss and elected to bowl. Cameron Coughlan made a steady 78 from 95 balls with thirteen fours as the home side started well. Mitch Kelsall added his own 68 containing nine fours, sharing 91 with Coughlan for the 4th wicket. There were two wickets each for Alistair Hunt and Jack Armstrong before Moddershall closed on 221/9 from their 50 overs.
Armstrong made 30 after the tea break for Eccleshall, but they struggled against a very disciplined Moddershall bowling attack, and they were bowled out for just 97. Sam Wright, David Housley, Kelsall and Alfie Womble all claimed two wickets each to secure a comfortable victory for the home side.
Sandbach vs Meakins.
Meakins won by 1 wicket.
Sandbach won the toss and elected to bat. Jack Collett made 39 with five fours and a six, but the home side struggled with the bat. Tas Hussain caught them in a web of spin, claiming 5/43 to bowl Sandbach out for just 103.
Batting was no easier after the tea break, and Meakins were soon in trouble at 16/4. Tariq Mughal went on the attack with 32 from 30 balls with three fours and three sixes to get his side back into the game. Wickets continued to fall before Zakariya Zaheer made 21, getting his side to the brink of victory before he was dismissed. Kaleb Baldwin sealed the narrow victory with a boundary from the next ball. Ben Collett claimed 4/41 from 11 overs to be the pick of the bowlers for Sandbach. Jack Collett and Will Reading shared four wickets between them, offering good support, but it wasn’t enough for the home side.
Wedgwood vs Little Stoke.
Little Stoke won by 7 wickets.
Wedgwood won the toss and elected to bat. Usman Saleem made a 49-ball 54 with six fours and three sixes for the home side, but only Leon Pedley (21) offered much resistance, and they closed on 177/9 from their 50 overs. Shazad Liaqat claimed 4/50, taking the bowling honours for the visitors. Omar Ali added good support with 3/29 from his 11 overs as Little Stoke restricted the hosts well.
Rob Spruce batted throughout the innings for Little Stoke, scoring an unbeaten 62 from 104 balls with nine fours to secure a comfortable victory. Jake Adams blasted 50 from just 27 balls with nine fours and a six, sharing 78 with Spruce for the 3rd wicket as they went about chasing down the total. Ali added a quickfire 21* getting them over the line with 17.2 overs to spare.
