Checkley won the toss and elected to bat. Tom Carrigan made a run-a-ball 38 with eight fours as the home side recovered from the early wicket of Elliot Boardwell. James Kettleborough made a fine 88 from 115 balls with twelve fours and a six, but it was James Abbotts who stole the show with the bat. He made 105 from 118 balls with twelve fours and two sixes as the pair shared 182 for the 3rd wicket, forming the backbone of the large Checkley total. Jack Farrington smashed 30 from just 14 balls with three fours and a six before the declaration came with the score on 307/6 after 51 overs. Alex Coates picked up 4/74 from 11 overs to be the pick of the Audley bowlers.
Archie Doorbar made 31 with five fours as Audley set about chasing their large total down. Ali Hamza Waseem then anchored their innings with a fine 105* from 139 balls with eleven fours and two sixes. Ash Rogers added 33 with four fours and two sixes, but Checkley struggled to take wickets regularly enough, and Ed Jones survived 35 balls for 9* to secure the draw for his side after Checkley sent down 62 overs. Audley closed on 253/6.
Hem Heath vs Meakins.
Hem Heath won by 7 wickets.
Hem Heath won the toss and elected to bowl. Sam Moores made 32 at the top of the order for Meakins, with six fours, but Liam Banks was in superb form with the new ball. He claimed 5/42 from 13 overs to rip through the visitors’ top order. Jack Hammond then mounted a rescue mission; he was last man out for 79 from 69 balls with thirteen fours and two sixes. He shared 54 for the last wicket with Zain Ul Abidin, who finished 0*. Bilawal Bhatti claimed 3/52, offering good support to Banks.
Banks struck 43 from 66 balls with seven fours after tea, sharing 63 from the 2nd wicket with Sam Wilcox (21) as the home side recovered from the early wicket of Matt Hodson. Callum Leese then blasted 81* from just 59 balls with seventeen fours in a display of fine stroke play as he and Dan Richardson (37*) with five boundaries shared an unbroken stand of 125 to see the home side to a comfortable victory.
Leek vs Eccleshall.
Leek won by 61 runs.
Eccleshall won the toss and elected to bowl. Matt Morris anchored the Leek innings with a fine 86 from 142 balls with nine fours. Tom Moulton made a patient 45 from 94 balls with five boundaries as the pair shared 96 for the 2nd wicket. Hamaiz Mahmood added 34 before Leek closed on 203/6 from their 55 overs.
Connor Beasley made 44 at the top of the order for Eccleshall with six fours as they started the chase well. Chris Plant added 34 with five fours, sharing 59 with Beasley for the 2nd wicket. The home side’s bowlers then began to get into the game. Rory Corden claimed superb figures of 4/19 from 10 overs, and Morris snared 3/27 from 11 as the visitors collapsed to 142 all out, giving Leek a comfortable victory.
Porthill vs Newcastle.
Porthill won by 13 runs.
Porthill won the toss and elected to bat. Tom Steele made 35, containing six fours and a six as the home side started well. His opening partner John Hancock went on to make 64 from 89 balls with eleven fours as they shared 105 for the 1st wicket. Louis Allison added 43 with three fours and two sixes as the runs continued to flow for the home side. Matt Coxon struck a breezy 37 from 22 balls, also with three fours and two sixes. A clatter of wickets fell as they pushed for late runs before they closed on 257/9 from their 55 overs. Kasun Ekanayaka was the pick of the bowlers for the visitors, claiming 3/28 from 9 overs. Mo Rameez and Harry Bailey shared 4 wickets between them.
Castle were in early danger at 12/3 before Mohammed Ishtiaq made 50 from 77 with eleven fours. Porthill soon had a stranglehold on the innings, and wickets began to fall at regular intervals; they were soon in trouble again at 107/8 before a remarkable display of hitting from Joe Thorne almost took them to a remarkable victory. He blazed 100 from just 76 balls with eleven fours and six sixes, dragging his side back into the game. He shared 58 with Guy Bridgett (23) for the 8th wicket. Only 10 came in partnership with Rameez for the 9th wicket before 73 followed with Theo Abel (4*) for the last wicket. Craig Barker returned to knock Thorne over and secure victory for Porthill in a fine game of cricket. Coxon finished with 3/34, doing the bulk of the damage up front with the new ball. Ben Holt offered good support with 3/52 whilst Barker finished with 3/49.
Whitmore vs Longton.
Whitmore won by 24 runs.
Longton won the toss and elected to bowl. Caleb Mierkalns made a 51-ball 54 for the home side with six fours and three sixes as they started well. Longton began to chip away at the Whitmore batting line-up, and Nalin Priyadarshan claimed 4/27 from 13 overs to get them back into the game. Matheesha Perera offered good support with 4/32 before Manobala Kumaresan made a late 34* for the home side with three fours before they were bowled out for 200 in the 51st over.
Longton opener Alex Thorley struck a fine 66 from 73 balls with nine fours and three sixes as Longton put themselves in with a chance of a rare victory. When Dane Tinsley fell for 19 shortly after, the game was finely poised with Longton 125/5. Matt McAll then returned to instigate a collapse and secure a narrow victory for his side. He claimed 5/42 from 10.5 overs to take his side to their 3rd victory of the season. Perera was stranded on 41* from 56 balls with six fours as he was powerless to stop the collapse happening around him.
