Blythe vs Betley.
Blythe won by 64 runs.
Betley won the toss and elected to bowl. An early burst with the new ball from Adam Williams reduced Blythe to 10/3 before Craig Grimley made 22. Blythe were again on the ropes before Umair Mushtaq smashed an unbeaten 84 from 92 balls with thirteen fours and three sixes to drag Blythe up to 164 all out. Williams finished with 3/35 from 11 overs. Jimmy Jinks offered him good support with 3/36 as Betley bowled well.
Craig Grimley claimed three early wickets with the new ball to reduce Betley to 20/3 before Tom Mellor made 31 with six fours and a six, but after he was dismissed Betley crumbled to just 83 all out. Grimley finished with 3/16, and Matt Rogerson ran through the lower order to claim 3/8 as Blythe won their 6th successive match in the league.
Eccleshall 2nd XI vs Sandbach.
Eccleshall won by 5 wickets.
Eccleshall won the toss and elected to bowl. Ben Collett made a patient 33 from 87 balls with four fours at the top of the order for Sandbach. Sean Manning added some impetus with a 48-ball 57 containing six fours and two sixes, but it was Jack Collett’s 88* from 66 balls with thirteen fours and a six that propelled the visitors to 250/8 from their 50 overs. Collett shared 100 with Manning for the 6th wicket, getting their side in a good position at the tea break. Zak Mosam claimed excellent figures of 5/48 from 10 to be the pick of the bowlers for the home side.
Rhys Owens made a fine 75 from 114 with ten fours and a six as he anchored the chase for the home side. It was then Mosam’s turn with the bat; he added 58 with six fours and three sixes, sharing 91 with Owens for the 3rd wicket. Deklan Binnington then blasted 44* from just 28 balls with seven fours as the home side secured victory with just three balls remaining. Jack Collett claimed two wickets in the second innings, but it wasn’t enough for his side.
Meakins 2nd XI vs Elworth 2nd XI.
Meakins won by 87 runs.
Elworth won the toss and elected to bowl. Jack Harrison made a steady 66 from 99 balls with four fours and five sixes to get the home side off to a good start. Ryan Nolan then added a breezy 23 before Wallace Mubayiwa claimed 3/10 from 10 overs, and Maulik Bhalodiya 5/22 from 6.2 overs, instigating a collapse from 140/3 to 165 all out.
Kaleb Baldwin started brightly with the ball after tea for the home side. His new ball burst reduced Elworth to 22/4, a position they never recovered from. Tas Hussain claimed 3/16 to go with Baldwin’s 3/16 as Elworth could only muster 78 in reply.
Little Stoke vs Moddershall 2nd XI.
Little Stoke won by 164 runs.
Moddershall won the toss and elected to bowl. Omar Ali made a run-a-ball 40 with six fours and a six before Ben Gliddon made a patient 42 from 93 balls with six fours and a six as Little Stoke began to build a good total. James Ecclestone smacked 49 from just 37 balls with seven fours and two sixes before the home side declared on 232/7 in the last over. Rob Bagnall and Ben Housley both took two wickets each.
It was the Dan Colclough show after tea. He took incredible figures of 8.4-5-4-8 as Moddershall were routed for just 68. Raghav Masta made 24 with five fours, being the only batsman to show any resistance against the imperious Colclough, who swept all before him.
Meir Heath vs Wedgwood.
Meir Heath won by 13 runs.
Wedgwood won the toss and elected to bowl. Farrhuk Javed made 30 from 42 balls with four fours and two sixes at the top order for the home side. Aqib Ali added a 40-ball 42 with eight fours and a six as Meir Heath started well. Muhammad Raja made 33 with four fours and a six before Josh Renshaw’s 50* from 41 balls with five fours and two sixes led the home side to 223/8 from their 50 overs. Fehsal Hussain claimed 3/37 from 6 overs to be the pick of the bowlers for Wedgwood.
Wedgwood started poorly and were in trouble at 66/6 before Ade Lello mounted a rescue mission. He made 60 from 108 balls with eight fours to get his side back into the game. He found support from number 10 George Beaty, who made 44 with eight boundaries as they shared 91 for the 9th wicket. Mohammed Mukhtar returned to dismiss Beaty with only 23 required for victory before Asim Ali trapped Lello LBW in the last over to seal a narrow victory for his side. Mukhtar claimed 3/37 from nine overs with good support from Renshaw and Asim Ali, who shared 4 wickets between them.
Newcastle & Hartshill 2nd XI vs Hanford.
Newcastle & Hartshill won by 111 runs.
Hanford won the toss and elected to bowl. Thenuka Angoda made 40 from 48 balls with six fours and a six before Andrew Keats blasted 93 from 85 deliveries with fifteen fours. Isaac McKeown added a late 32* with two boundaries as he shared 126 with Keats for the 9th wicket after Castle found themselves 107/8. They eventually closed on 233/9 after the fine 9th-wicket stand swung the momentum of the innings. Faizal Paraiz claimed 5/36 to instigate the middle-order collapse. runs.
Hanford lost early wickets after the tea break and were soon in trouble at 59/6. Uttam Das counter-attacked with 38 from 26 balls with nine fours, but he became one of 6 victims for Deacon Purcell as they were bowled out for just 122. Purcell finished with excellent figures of 6/30 from 7 overs. McKeown rounded off a fine day by capturing 3/7 from his 6 overs as Castle secured a comfortable victory.
