Audley vs Moddershall.
Moddershall won by 8 wickets.
Audley won the toss and elected to bat. Audley were in early trouble at 10/2 and never fully recovered as they were bundled out for just 102 by the disciplined Moddershall bowling attack. Jake Garlick, Sam Kelsall, Danushka Sandaruwan and Joe Hawkins all took two wickets each to complete a good performance with the ball for the visitors.
Callum Hawkins struck 42 with four fours and two sixes, getting his side off to a fast start after the tea break. Muaaz Ahmed added 33 with four fours and a six as Moddershall cruised to a dominant victory in just 19.1 overs.
Eccleshall vs Meakins.
Meakins won by 100 runs.
Eccleshall won the toss and elected to bowl. Ash Shaw led the way for the visitors with a 90-ball 75 that included eleven fours. Sam Moores then added 43 with four fours as the pair shared 99 for the 2nd wicket. Jalat Khan struck a run-a-ball 33 with four fours before Jack Hammond added a 29-ball 41 containing five fours and a six as his side racked up 272/7 from their 45 overs. Murvin Abinash and Myles Coughlan shared 4 wickets between them.
Connor Beasley struck a fine 65 from 79 balls with nine fours and six at the top of the order for the home side as he tried to anchor the chase after they lost 3 early wickets. He found a partner in Abinash, who made 52 from 58 balls with a four and three sixes. The pair shared 84 for the 4th wicket, but when they were dismissed Eccleshall subsided to 172 all out in the 36th over. Simon Mugava was the pick of the bowlers for the visitors, finishing with 3/33 from 9 overs. Amaan Tariq, Khan and Pete Wilshaw all claimed 2 wickets each to lead Meakins to a comfortable victory.
Longton vs Leek.
Longton won by 5 wickets.
Leek won the toss and elected to bat. Anis Raza made 36 at the top of the order for Leek with six fours, but it was Tom Moulton who anchored their innings with a fine unbeaten 96 with ten fours and three sixes as they posted 191/5 from their 45 overs.
Brodie Mack made 33 with seven fours after Longton lost two early wickets, leaving them 39/2. Tom Hope struck a superb run-a-ball 63 with three fours and four sixes to put Longton in a strong position. Dane Tinsley added an unbeaten 56 with six fours, sharing 92 with Hope for the 4th wicket as Longton finally won for the first time in 15 attempts.
Porthill vs Hem Heath.
Porthill won by 77 runs.
Porthill won the toss and elected to bat. Tom Steele struck a superb 111 from 120 balls with thirteen fours and a six, getting the home side off to a great start. Jeet Raval added 37 with five fours and a six, sharing 82 with Steele for the 2nd wicket. Ben Holt’s late cameo of 36* from just 11 balls contained five sixes, pushing Porthill to 256/9 from their 45 overs. Callum Leese claimed 4/26 from 9 overs, with his off-spin being the pick of the bowlers for the visitors.
Two early wickets from Holt left the visitors in trouble at 23/2 before Bilawal Bhatti crashed a 31-ball 51 with six fours and three sixes as he tried to smash his side back into the game. Dan Richardson offered support with 36, which contained four fours and six, but Raval (3/34) and O’Shay Reddy (3/35) ripped through Hem Heath’s batting line-up, and they were bowled out for 179 as Porthill secured another comfortable victory.
Stone vs Whitmore.
Stone won by 42 runs
Whitmore won the toss and elected to bowl. Dilesh Gunarathne took a hat trick in the 9th over to reduce the home side to 31/4. Dan Lunn then began to mount a recovery mission with a patient 43 off 95 balls, containing five fours. Ed Batchelor added a 23-ball 30 with four fours before Stone closed on 167/8 from their 45 overs. Gunarathne finished with 3/23 from 9 overs to be the pick of the bowlers for the visitors. Bilal Hussain and Caleb Mierkalns shared 4 wickets as Whitmore bowled well.
After falling to 15/2, Reid Taylor began to spin a web with his left-arm spin. He claimed 4/22 from 9 overs as the visitors crumbled to 90/8. Bilal Hussain made a defiant 40 with five fours and six before he fell to Taylor, and Whitmore were bowled out for 125. Devon Pollard added excellent support, claiming 3/11 from 7 overs as Stone wrapped up a comfortable victory.
TCD’s league summary, Moddershall’s victory at Audley coupled with defeats for Checkley and Hem Heath, has left them 30 points clear at the top of the table with only 4 games to go. Meakins have moved up to 3rd following their win at Eccleshall but still trail Moddershall by 31 points. Porthill are up to 6th following their victory, and Eccleshall have dropped to 8th. Castle are up to 7th after beating Checkley, who’ve slipped to 4th. Despite winning today for only the second time, Longton’s relegation has been confirmed. Whitmore missed the chance to close the gap on Leek following their defeat to Stone, and they remain 61 points from safety with only 4 games left to play.
