Checkley 2nd XI vs Porthill 2nd XI.
Porthill won by 52 runs.
Porthill won the toss and elected to bat. Joe Bridgewater anchored the visitors’ innings with a superb 88 from 109 balls with eight fours and a six. Zain Ali-Muhammad added a run-a-ball 31 with five fours before George Cairns smashed 31 from 26 balls with six boundaries as Porthill closed on 235/6 from their 40 overs. Matt Shaw and Jack Lewis shared 4 wickets between them in Porthill’s innings.
Richard Williams (24) and Lewis (26) added 49 for the 2nd wicket as the home side went about chasing their total down. Aaron Whitehurst added a 37-ball 43 with five fours as Checkley recovered from 95/6, but Ali-Muhammad wrapped up the innings with 3 wickets in one over as Checkley were bowled out for 183 in the 33rd over. He claimed 3/3 from his only over to wrap up a comfortable victory for Porthill. Jake Plummer lent good support with 3/41 from 8 overs, doing early damage.
Crewe vs Congleton.
Crewe won by 23 runs.
Crewe won the toss and elected to bat. Sam Youds struck 36 from 32 balls with three fours and three sixes after Crewe lost two early wickets. Calum Meakin added 31, including three boundaries, as Crewe began to rebuild. Rahul Nair then made a run-a-ball 28 before Crewe were bowled out for 192 in the last over. Jack Higginbotham, Sean Cardell and Lyndon Booth all claimed two wickets each for Congleton.
Logan Hislop made 34 with two fours and a six at the top of the order for Congleton after tea. Tom Leese struck a patient 47 from 78 balls with three sixes, sharing 54 with Hislop for the 2nd wicket. Higginbotham added 27 but then the wheels fell off for the visitors. They collapsed from 103/2 to 169 all out. Youds instigated proceedings with 3/35 from 7.5 overs, with Faisal Mahmood and Callum Bacon sharing a further 4 wickets between them as the home side secured a narrow victory.
Endon vs Bignall End.
Endon won by 23 runs.
Bignall End won the toss and elected to bowl. Bilal Abbas made 57 from 66 balls with six fours and three sixes, at the top of the order for the home side. Alex Bailey then added 63 with ten fours and three sixes, but Endon could not build a substantial partnership in their innings, and they were bowled out for 196 in the last over. Hamid Ali (3/32) and Niall Hassett (3/28) were excellent with the ball during Endon’s innings.
George Harding struck 49 from 53 balls with seven fours as Bignall End recovered from a poor start. Rohan Hesketh added 36 with three fours and two sixes as the visitors moved into a good position. Jack Chell removed them both, and the wheels came off for Bignall End as they tumbled to 173 all out in the 37th over. Josh Reynolds ran through the lower order to finish with excellent figures of 4/22 from 6 overs. Simon Read claimed 3/30 from 7 overs, offering good support as the home side secured a narrow victory.
Leycett vs Cheadle 2nd XI.
Leycett won by 112 runs.
Leycett won the toss and elected to bat. Charlie Griffiths made a patient 45 off 83 balls with five fours at the top of the order for Leycett. Ben Shirley made a 40-ball 33 with four boundaries as the pair shared 47 for the 1st wicket. Yohan Maddege smashed a late 57 from just 33 balls with ten fours and two sixes as the home side closed on 220/6 from their 40 overs. Harry Bonehill claimed two wickets for the visitors.
Matt Johnson took two early with the new ball to leave Cheadle in trouble at 19/2. It was a position that they never recovered from, and were bowled out for 108 in the 30th over. Maddege claimed 5/29 from 7.5 overs as his brilliant season with the ball continues. Johnson and Isaac McDonald also shared 4 wickets to complete the victory for Leycett.
Sandyford vs Stafford.
Stafford won by 61 runs.
Sandyford won the toss and elected to bowl. Rishi Harish made a steady 39 from 79 balls with three fours and a six as Stafford mounted a recovery mission from 59/5. Matthew Turner added 34 with five fours as the pair shared 72 for the 6th wicket. Joe Warrilow claimed 3/26 from 8 overs as Stafford closed on 161/8 from their 40 overs.
Thomas Shaw made 30 at the top of the order for Sandyford with three fours. Matthew Taylor added 34 with four boundaries as they added 54 for the 3rd wicket, but once the partnership was broken the home side capitulated to 100 all out in the face of some good bowling from Stafford. Guy Seaton was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 3/6 from 4 overs. Himasha Liyange and Turner shared 4 wickets between them as Stafford secured a comfortable win.
Silverdale vs Oakamoor.
Silverdale won by 4 wickets.
Silverdale won the toss and elected to bat. Ahmad Khan made an aggressive 91 from 84 balls with eight fours and a six, but some good bowling from Silverdale reduced Oakamoor to just 149 all out in the 37th over. Kasun Abeysinghe claimed 3/36 from 6 overs to be the pick of the bowlers. Callum Harrison and Matthew Moore took two wickets each, offering good support.
Josh Rhodes made 48 from just 40 balls with seven fours and two sixes as he added 72 for the 3rd wicket with Matt Baker (20). Niall Redman then added an unbeaten 27 from 30 balls with four fours and a six as Silverdale secured victory in the 32nd over. Khan added two wickets to his 91, but it wasn’t enough for the visitors in the end.
TCD’s league summary: Leycett’s victory keeps them 31 points clear at the top of the standings. Endon and Stafford are level on points with 311 in second position after their victories. Bignall End dropped down to 4th following their defeat to Endon. They now have 305 points and are chasing the top 2. Cheadle and Checkley’s defeats keep them firmly in the bottom two following Crewe’s important victory over Congleton, which has moved them 24 points clear of the danger zone.
