Silverdale won the toss and elected to bat. Josh Cartledge made 50 from 65 balls with nine fours at the top of the order for the visitors. Kasun Abeysinghe added 30 from 53 balls with two fours before the home side’s bowlers started to get into the game. Niall Hassett claimed excellent figures of 4/29 from 11 overs as wickets began to fall. There were two wickets apiece for George Harding and Umair Dar as Silverdale were bowled out for 155.
Bignall End’s reply started badly, and they were reduced to 7/2 before Harding counter-attacked with a 48-ball 50 that contained seven fours and three sixes, adding 73 for the 3rd wicket with Leo Francisco (25). Aunn Shah then made an unbeaten 27* after a mini collapse to see his side over the winning line in the 38th over. Will Shenton and Niall Redman claimed two wickets for the visitors, but it wasn’t enough for them in the end.
Cheadle 2nd XI vs Sandyford.
Sandyford won by 8 wickets.
Cheadle won the toss and elected to bat. Ben Degg made 27 from 30 balls with six fours as he started positively for the home side. Will Carr then added 36 with seven fours as wickets fell in a hurry around him. Gareth Kinsey was excellent with the new ball, and he finished with figures of 4/14 from 11 overs. Kalhara Senarathne backed him up superbly with 4/5 from 6 overs as Cheadle were bowled out for 124 after 40 overs.
Thomas Shaw made 31* from 83 balls with four fours to anchor the Sandyford innings after the early wicket of Mitchell Underwood. Senarathne then added 36 with six boundaries as the pair shared 74 for the 2nd wicket. Matthew Taylor saw Sandyford home alongside Shaw with an unbeaten 33 containing six fours as they added 45* to see the visitors to a comfortable victory.
Congleton vs Porthill 2nd XI.
Porthill won by 4 wickets.
Congleton won the toss and elected to bat. Harry Podmore made 34 from 41 balls with eight fours before Jack Higginbotham made a fine 64 from 74 balls with ten fours and a six. Christian Barber added 57 with six fours and a six, adding 119 with Higginbotham for the 5th wicket before the home side collapsed to 216 all out from the final ball of the innings. Tom Kesteven claimed 3/39 from 11 overs to instigate the collapse. Ben Green and Harry Stubbs shared four wickets between them.
Joe Bridgewater made 61* from 137 balls with seven fours to anchor the Porthill chase. Jake Plummer then added a run-a-ball 64 with twelve fours and six as he stepped on the accelerator for the visitors. He shared 92 with Bridgewater for the 3rd wicket, putting Porthill in a strong position. Jamie Evans then made a 35-ball 47 including four fours and three sixes as Porthill secured victory with 15 balls to spare. Sean Cardell claimed 3/61 from 11 overs, and there were two wickets for Owen Lees, but it wasn’t enough for the home side.
Crewe vs Endon.
Endon won by 25 runs.
Crewe won the toss and elected to bowl. Elliot Simcock struck 63 from 96 balls with nine fours to give the visitors a good start. Sam Waterhouse made a patient 30 from 96 balls with a four before Endon collapsed from 115/3 to 166 all out in the final over. Ben Jarvis claimed 3/22 to be the pick of the bowlers for the home side. Faisal Mahmood, Rory Kalnins and Callum Bacon all claimed two wickets each for the home side as they pulled the game back well after Endon’s strong start.
Kalnins made 36 from 54 balls with six boundaries at the top of the order for the home side after the tea break, but he received little support, and then Ed Smith got to work, trapping Crewe in a web of spin. He wheeled his way through 10.4 overs to claim superb figures of 6/33, bowling his side to a narrow victory.
Oakamoor vs Leycett.
Leycett won by 2 wickets.
Oakamoor won the toss and elected to bat. Tom Sherratt made a patient 38 from 76 balls with five fours at the top of the order for Oakamoor. Ahmad Khan then added a fine 65 from 88 balls with six fours and a six before the home side closed on 161/9 from their 50 overs. Yohan Maddege’s fine season with the ball continued as he claimed 4/41 from 11 overs to restrict the home side. Dan Gibbs offered fine support with 3/30 from 10 overs.
Tom Warburton made 32 from 72 balls with three fours after Leycett lost two early wickets. Dan Redfern then expertly guided his side to victory with a well-paced 88* from 111 balls with fifteen fours as the visitors snuck over the line in the 44th over after a mini collapse following Warburton’s dismissal. Khan was threatening to win the game for the home side when he claimed 5/26 from 11 overs, but he didn’t receive enough support, and Leycett took the points.
Stafford vs Checkley 2nd XI.
Stafford won by 30 runs.
Stafford won the toss and elected to bat. Tom Morris anchored the innings for Stafford. He struck a patient 58 from 118 balls with seven fours. Himasha Liyange’s fine season with the bat continues. He made a sublime 103* from 88 balls with fourteen fours and two sixes as he put the accelerator down in fine style. Rob James smashed a 29-ball 38 with five fours before the declaration came with the score on 236/3 after 48 overs.
Adam Cottier made a steady 50 from 106 balls at the top of the order for the visitors. Aaron Whitehurst then added 51 from 59 balls with seven fours as Checkley’s good start continued. Peter Appleboam blasted 45 from just 34 balls with four fours and three sixes before James returned to clean up the tail and finish with figures of 4/61, bowling the home side to a narrow victory in the 58th over. Liyange and Matt Turner shared 4 wickets between them as they offered fine support.
