Bignall End vs Sandyford.
Bignall End won by 146 runs.
Sandyford won the toss and elected to bowl. Jonathan Maskrey (37) with seven fours and a six, and Ahsam Zaroof (39), which included seven fours, shared 76 for the opening wicket as the home side made a good start. This was continued by Leo Francisco, who made an unbeaten 76 with eleven boundaries, and George Harding, who crashed 122* from just 102 balls with fourteen fours and sixes as they shared an unbroken 202 for the 3rd wicket. This allowed the home side to finish on a formidable 291/2 from their 50 overs. Matthew Taylor claimed both wickets to fall for the visitors.
An early burst from Hamid Ali reduced Sandyford to 17/3 before Ben Turnock made 31 with five fours. Kalhara Senarathne added a further 30 with 3 fours and a six, but the visitors were bowled out for just 145. Ali claimed 3/32 as he was the pick of the bowlers for the home side. Zaroof and Niall Hassett shared a further 4 wickets as they cruised to a comfortable victory.
Cheadle 2nd XI vs Porthill 2nd XI.
Cheadle won by 113 runs.
Porthill won the toss and elected to bowl. Oliver Spear made a fine 86 from 79 balls with seventeen fours before Jack Degg blasted a 63-ball 80, which included eight fours and three sixes, as the home side racked up 261/8 from their 50 overs. Jake Plummer finished with 4/55 as he was the pick of the Porthill bowlers. Leo Plummer and Tom Kesteven shared a further 4 wickets between them.
Three early wickets from Sam Akram reduced the visitors to 30/3 before Connor Uren made a patient 43 with eight boundaries. Jamie Evans added 34 lower down the order with six fours and a six, but Charlie Goldstraw took 4/34 from 9.3 overs to bowl the visitors out for just 148. Akram finished with 3/15 from 9 overs after his early burst with the new ball.
Congleton vs Stafford.
Stafford won by 6 wickets.
Congleton won the toss and elected to bat. Logan Hislop made a steady 41 with six fours and a six as the home side recovered from losing two early wickets. Christian Barber made an unbeaten 35 with five fours as the home side were bowled out for 187 from the final delivery. Rajith Saranga, Himasha Liyange, Matthew Turner and Robert James all claimed two wickets each for the visitors as they restricted Congleton well.
Liyange struck a 32-ball 46 with five fours and four sixes as he got Stafford off to a quick start after they lost an early wicket. Hamish Jefferson added 42 with eight boundaries as Stafford’s good start continued. James 30* with six fours and Turner 28* with five fours and a six then got the visitors over the line with 19.1 overs to spare as they completed a crushing victory.
Crewe vs Leycett.
Leycett won by 15 runs.
Leycett won the toss and elected to bat. Dan Redfern made an excellent unbeaten 83 with twelve fours. He shared 95 for the 3rd wicket with Tom Warburton, who made 39, which included seven boundaries. Gamindu Kanishka then added an unbeaten 50 from 48 balls with eight fours and a six as Leycett declared on 248/3 from 46 overs.
Ben Jarvis made 30 with seven boundaries as Crewe got off to a steady start. Rory Kalnins then made 68 with five fours and four sixes as he took the attack to the Leycett bowlers. Sam Youds added 48 from 52 balls with six fours and a six as the home side started to get themselves into a good position to chase the target down. Yohan Maddege had other ideas, though. He took 4/29 from 11 overs to keep the visitors in the game. Faisal Mahmood made an attacking 30 from 19 balls with three fours and two sixes, but Matt Johnson returned to finish off the tail, claiming superb figures of 5/35 as the visitors secured a narrow victory.
Endon vs Silverdale.
Silverdale won by 37 runs.
Silverdale won the toss and elected to bat. Matthew Moore made 38 with seven fours before Josh Rhodes struck a fine 54-ball 60 with thirteen fours as the pair shared 94 for the 2nd wicket. Jack Chell chipped away at the visitors’ batting line-up and claimed figures of 4/37 as Silverdale were bowled out for 203 in the final over. Simon Read and Owen Sims both claimed two wickets each as Endon pulled it back well after Silverdale’s good start.
An early burst from Toby Degg with the new ball reduced Endon to 52/5 before Alex Bailey crashed 87 from 84 balls with twelve fours and three sixes as he threatened to take the game away from the visitors. Moore picked up the vital wicket of Bailey and Degg ran through the lower order to finish with excellent figures of 6/27 from 11 overs, bowling Silverdale to a fine victory.
Oakamoor vs Checkley 2nd XI.
Oakamoor won by 79 runs.
Oakamoor won the toss and elected to bat. Tom Sherratt made a patient 45 from 109 balls with five fours and two sixes at the top of the order for the home side. Ahmad Khan added 41, which included four fours and two sixes, as the pair shared 81 for the 3rd wicket. Peter Appleboam ripped out the lower order to finish with superb figures of 6/36 from 10 overs as Oakamoor collapsed to 194 all out. Niall Lovatt picked up 3/24 from 7.3 overs as the Checkley bowlers fought back strongly.
Checkley started poorly with the bat against some disciplined new-ball bowling from the home side. They’d been reduced to 51/6 before Appleboam made a counter-attacking 46 from 31 balls with five fours and two sixes before they were bowled out for 115. Joe Degg ran through the lower order to finish with figures of 3/12. Khan and Callum Lowe shared 4 wickets between them as Oakamoor secured a comfortable victory.
