Audley vs Stone.
Audley won by 89 runs.
Audley won the toss and elected to bat. Jack Redman anchored the home side’s innings with a fine knock of 88 from 138 balls. He struck nine 4s and four 6s as he put his side in a strong position. He shared a 3rd wicket partnership of 118 with Hashim Rabi Ahmed, who made 54, which included nine 4s and a six. Rob Hemmings struck a run-a-ball 46 with three 4s and three 6s as Audley powered their way to 238/8 from their 55 overs. Edward Batchelor claimed 4/40 and received support from left-arm seamer Jack Harvey, who bagged 4/46 as the rest of the bowlers toiled away without reward.
Sam Graham made 24 at the top of the order for visitors as they made a strong start. Warrick Fynn then added a run-a-ball 40 with nine boundaries before the Audley bowlers got to work. Hemmings took 2/27 before Ed Jones ran through the lower order to finish with superb figures of 5/28 and seal a comfortable victory for the home side.
Checkley vs Meakins.
Checkley won by 63 runs.
Checkley won the toss and elected to bat. Elliot Boardwell made a fine 54, which included seven 4s and a six as he added 61 for the 3rd wicket with James Abbotts (22). Sithembile Langa added 38 with four 4s, but Checkley collapsed from 110/3 to 170 all out. Jalat Khan and Oliver Tucker trapped them in a web of spin as they claimed 3/24 and 3/15, respectively, as they bowled their side back into the game.
EJ Laverty and Langa then reduced the visitors to 36/5 with some fine new-ball bowling after the tea interval. Tucker made a battling 31 from 62 balls with five 4s and a six, but it wasn’t enough as they were bowled out for just 107. Langa finished with 3/28 before Charlie Lewis ran through the tail to finish with 3/14 as Checkley took the points and remained at the top of the table.
Hem Heath vs Whitmore.
Whitmore won by 76 runs.
Whitmore won the toss and elected to bat. Aaqil Mohideen made a patient 63 from 104 balls with ten 4s as he got the visitors off to a good start. Muhammad Imran added 34 in the middle order that contained five boundaries as Whitmore pushed on well from their good start. Danyal Hussain finished unbeaten on 43 with five 4s as he added valuable late runs with Dilesh Gunarathne, who blasted 32 from just 19 balls with three 6s and two 4s as they added 47 for the 8th wicket in just 31 balls as Whitmore closed on 238/8 from their 55 overs. Liam Banks (3/48) and Greg Prime (3/49) claimed 6 wickets between them, but they were unable to stop the visitors putting a very competitive total on the board.
Tom Hodson made a fast start for the home side. He made 29 from 32 balls with seven 4s as he added 55 with Liam Banks for the first wicket in 10.1 overs. The visitors then got a grip on the game and reduced Hem Heath to 77/5. They picked up the big wicket of Banks for 40, which contained six 4s and a six. Dan Richardson offered some resistance with 24, but it wasn’t enough for the home side as they were bowled out for 162. Gunarathne finished with excellent figures of 3/18, and he got fine support from Bilal Hussain (3/21) and Imran (3/53) as they picked up a valuable 23 points in their quest for survival.
Moddershall vs Leek.
Moddershall won by 36 runs.
Leek won the toss and elected to field. Arjun Annamalai (43) with five 4s and a six added 79 for the 3rd wicket with Joe Hawkins (42), who struck eight 4s as Moddershall recovered from being reduced to 20/2. Callum Hawkins added 45 in the middle order from 59 balls with seven 4s before Sam Atkinson made 33 with four boundaries as the home side closed on 209/8 from their 55 overs. Left-arm spinner Anis Raza claimed 3/36 as he was the pick of the bowlers for the visitors. Jack Bowcock chipped in with 2/26 as Leek restricted well.
Leek were in early trouble at 37/3 before Alex Mellor added a fine 59, which contained nine 4s. Moddershall began to chip away around him, and when he was dismissed, the visitors fell to 125/6. Ross Dearden made a battling 24 as they looked to bat out for a draw. They were on course for this before Atkinson returned to claim the final two wickets and bowl the home side to victory in the final over, as he finished with 4/30. Joe Walley (2/42) and Danushka Sandaruwan (2/44) offered fine support as Moddershall moved back up into 2nd place, just 11 points behind leaders Checkley.
Porthill vs Eccleshall.
Porthill won by 15 runs.
Porthill won the toss and elected to bat. Tom Steele made 61 at the top of the order for the home side. His innings contained eight boundaries as he got them off to a fine start. Matt Coxon added 40 in the middle order with four 4s and a six as he added 73 with Steele for the 4th wicket. Oliver Shirley then continued the run scoring for the home side as he made 46 from 51 balls with eight 4s before O’Shay Reddy made an unbeaten 36 with four 4s and a six as Porthill closed on 230/6 from their 55 overs. Murvin Abinash (2/41) and Oliver Palmer (2/30) shared 4 wickets between them as Eccleshall didn’t let the game get away from them.
Ben Rogerson made a fine 52 from 80 balls with seven 4s and two 6s as the visitors began their chase strongly. Greg Clark then chipped in with 29, which included seven 4s, as the visitors had made their way to 121/3, and the game was very much in the balance. Coxon’s second spell then yielded 4 crucial wickets as he ripped the heart out of the Eccleshall middle order. Chris Plant remained unmoved as he looked to secure an unlikely victory with the tail end. He found a partner in number 11 Muhammad Khan, after they had been reduced to 187/9 with 10 overs to go. They added 28 before Khan became Holt’s 3rd victim as Porthill secured a narrow victory. Plant was left stranded on 38 not out, as Coxon finished with 4/29, as he was once again terrific. Holt claimed 3/55 as the left-armer offered fine support to his new ball colleague. Craig Barker chipped in with 2 wickets as Porthill secured another important victory. With Whitmore securing an unlikely victory at Hem Heath, Porthill kept their 56-point buffer over the relegation places.
