Checkley vs Longton.
Checkley won by 111 runs.
Checkley won the toss and elected to bat. After three early wickets from Tom Hope and Ewan Farnell, Checkley were reduced to 57/3 in the 9th over. James Kettleborough then set about the visitors’ bowling attack with gusto. He smashed an incredible 165 not out from just 114 balls with twenty-four fours and a six. He was joined by Nils Priestley, who made a run-a-ball 82 with eleven fours and three sixes as they added 194 for the 4th wicket in just 28 overs. This allowed the home side to declare on a formidable 314/5 from just 43.2 overs. Hope finished with 2/58 from 12 overs to be the pick of the bowlers.
Hope made a valiant 60 in reply for the visitors with eleven boundaries as they set about chasing the huge total down. Brodie Mack made an unbeaten 26 towards the end of the innings as they were bowled out for 203 in the 51st over. EJ Laverty bagged 4/46 as his fine season with the ball continued. Jack Farrington added two further wickets to make sure Checkley took the points.
Hem Heath vs Leek.
Hem Heath won by 7 wickets.
Leek won the toss and elected to bat. A fine all-round bowling performance routed the visitors for just 76 in 38 overs. Only Kieran Carr (28) showed any resistance with the bat as Leek were blown away. Liam Banks claimed excellent figures of 13-10-10-3, and he was imperious with the new ball. Bilawal Bhatti backed him up superbly with 3/27 before Dan Richardson and Callum Leese shared the remaining four wickets between them.
Matthew Hodson struck an unbeaten 38 with five fours and a six after the tea break as Hem Heath cruised to their target in just 13.5 overs.
Moddershall vs Eccleshall.
Moddershall won by 4 wickets.
Eccleshall won the toss and elected to bat. Moddershall started well and reduced the visitors to 28/3 before Chris Plant made a gritty 33 from 96 balls, which included two fours. Jack Knapper and Daniel Byatt both added 27 lower down the order before the visitors were bowled out for 164. Sam Atkinson took 3/21 from 10 overs before Danushka Sandaruwan picked up 3/31from 12.4 overs as they kept the Eccleshall batters in check.
Callum Hawkins then played a fine captain’s knock after the tea break. He batted throughout his side’s innings, finishing unbeaten on 75 with ten fours and two sixes as he steered them to a narrow victory. Aizaz Ahmed added some late fireworks with 32* from just 19 balls with two fours and two sixes as he added an unbroken 38 with his skipper to seal the points. Murvin Abinash chipped away at the Moddershall middle order and finished with impressive figures of 5/62, but it wasn’t enough for his side in the end.
Newcastle & Hartshill vs Audley.
Audley won by 55 runs.
Newcastle & Hartshill won the toss and elected to bowl. Jack Redman made 38 at the top of the order for the visitors. His innings contained seven fours as he added 73 for the second wicket with Ali Hamza Waseem, who made 46 with eight boundaries as Audley made a good start. Castle’s web of spinners then got into the game. Kasun Ekanayaka was the pick of them. He finished with 4/24 from 10.3 overs. Mo Rameez backed him up with 3/26 from 13 overs, and Harry Bailey chipped in with a further two wickets as the visitors were bowled out for just 161.
Ed Jones and Rob Hemmings got to work with the new ball after tea and reduced the home side to 66/6, before Guy Bridgett made a run-a-ball 25 with a four and two sixes before Castle were bowled out for just 106. Hemmings was superb; he bagged fantastic figures of 6/28 from 10 overs to put his side in control. Jones added 3/19 from 8 overs as the visitors moved up to 2nd in the table with this victory.
Porthill vs Stone.
Match Drawn.
Porthill won the toss and elected to bat. Tom Steele made 33 with seven boundaries as he got the home side off to a good start. Louis Allison then made an unbeaten 75 from 126 balls with eleven fours as he anchored the innings. Oliver Shirley made 41, which contained six fours. Will Kilgariff added a late 47 from just 30 balls with four fours and three sixes as Porthill closed on 231/7 from their 55 overs. James Green, Jack Harvey and Warrick Fynn shared six wickets between them.
Stone opener Leyton Bailey made 53 with ten fours as Stone recovered well from losing two early wickets. Joey Sharp added 48 with eight fours and a six in the middle order as the visitors continued to push for victory. Matt Coxon was chipping away at their order, though, and it took 42 from Ed Batchelor, with three fours and three sixes, and an unbeaten 32 from Green with three boundaries as Stone closed on 215/9 to secure a draw. Coxon was excellent once again for the home side, and finished with 6/32 from 13 overs, but he couldn’t bowl his side to a 4th consecutive victory.
Whitmore vs Meakins.
Meakins won by 7 wickets.
Whitmore won the toss and elected to bat. Ryan Roberts (22) and Danyal Hussain (24) were the only two batters who got to grips with the disciplined Meakins bowling attack as they were bowled out for 118 in the 42nd over. Karl High claimed 3/45 to be the pick of the bowlers for the visitors. Amaan Tariq, Jalat Khan and Oliver Tucker shared the other 6 wickets between them,
Simon Mugava was in no mood to mess around after the tea break. He blasted 73* from just 54 balls, with ten fours and four sixes as the visitors raced to their target in just 21.4 overs.
