Wood Lane won the toss and elected to bat. Only Dan Brierley, who made 26, got to grips with a disciplined home bowling attack. Waqas Hussain claimed 4/30 from 10 overs, and Greg Phillips took 3/20 from 8 as the visitors were shot out for just 74.
Sean Price crashed an unbeaten 46 from just 32 balls with six fours and a six, as he and James Bloor (28*), who hit five fours and a six, smashed Alsager to their target in just 10.3 overs.
Bagnall Norton vs Ashcombe Park.
Bagnall Norton won by 19 runs.
Ashcombe Park won the toss and elected to bowl. Euan Hurst anchored the home side’s innings with a patient 66 from 141 balls, which included nine fours. Morgan Murray-Williams struck an unbeaten 59 with five fours and two sixes as Bagnall Norton amassed 216/9 from their 55 overs. Kamran Abbasi and Joe Thompson shared four wickets between them as the visitors bowled well.
Abbasi then made 38 with seven fours and a six after the tea break as Ashcombe set about chasing their total. Phil Clowes held firm with an unbeaten 56 with seven fours and two sixes, but only Max Hill, who made 30, could keep him company for any length of time, and the game slipped out of their grasp thanks to 4/23 from Hafiz Suleman and 3/43 from Murray-Williams as they came up just short of victory.
Cheadle vs Norton-In-Hales.
Cheadle won by 143 runs.
Cheadle won the toss and elected to bat. Austen Crump struck a sublime 107 from 116 balls for the home side, with twenty fours as he anchored the innings. Matt Goodwin added a further 89 with twelve fours and three sixes as the pair shared 85 for the 5th wicket before Cheadle closed on 268/9 from their 55 overs. Ant Sheeran claimed 4/42 from 11 overs to be the pick of the bowlers for the visitors.
Salman Khan made 31 for Norton-In-Hales after the tea break, but once he departed, the Cheadle bowlers ran through their batting line-up, leaving them 125 all out. Will Dobbie bagged 3/18 as his fine summer continued. Goodwin, Sam Akram and Ryan Elwell all claimed 2 wickets each to complete the victory.
Hem Heath 2nd XI vs Stone 2nd XI.
Hem Heath won by 71 runs.
Stone won the toss and elected to bowl. Gavin Grocock made 49 from 54 balls with five fours and three sixes, adding 80 for the first wicket with Jack Jones, who made 39 with five fours and two sixes, as the home side started well. Ben Lucas then made a fine 89 from 91 balls with ten fours and two sixes as their good start continued. Matt Lucas smashed 47* from just 23 balls, which contained four fours and five sixes, before Hem Heath declared on 302/6 from 54 overs. Reuben Hall and Chanaka Ekanayake claimed two wickets each for the visitors.
William Farrow struck 70 from 93 balls with sixteen fours at the top of the order as the visitors began their huge chase. Ekanayake added a further 44 with six fours and three sixes as it looked like Stone could at least secure a draw. Ben Lucas had other ideas though, and he rounded off a fine all-round performance with figures of 4/54 to secure victory for his side. Shailesh Khune offered him good support with figures of 3/40.
Knypersley vs Barlaston.
Barlaston won by 2 wickets.
Knypersley won the toss and elected to bat. Cameron Allen made a patient 35 from 108 balls at the top of the order for the home side. His innings contained five fours as he played the anchor role. Ahsan Hafeez Bhatti then struck a 32-ball 40 with six fours and a six, but Knypersley collapsed from a good position to be bowled out for 179 from the final ball of the innings. Matthew Myers claimed 4/40, and he was the pick of the bowlers for the visitors. Ethan Squire claimed 3/25 from 10 overs as he offered fine support.
Jos Beeston gave Barlaston a good start after tea. He made 42 from 106 balls with six fours and a six. Along with Edward Seabridge, who made 41 including seven fours, they added 66 for the second wicket. The home side’s bowlers began to chip away at the Barlaston middle order, and the game looked to be in the balance before Rory Jones made a crucial 29 and they snuck home for a narrow victory in the 56th over. Joe Dutton, Dom Cumberbatch and Jacob Cumberbatch all claimed two wickets each for the home side, but it wasn’t enough in the end.
Rode Park & Lawton vs Elworth.
Elworth won by 73 runs.
Elworth won the toss and elected to bat. Russ Ballard made a steady 74 from 136 balls, with twelve fours as the visitors made a strong start. Chris Regan added 51, which included nine fours and a six, as the pair added 68 for the 2nd wicket. Willoughby Happe smashed 57* from 47 balls with five fours and three sixes, and Jarrod McKay blazed 32 from just 11 balls with three fours and three sixes before Elworth declared on 267/7 from 51 overs. Richard Bebbington was the pick of the bowlers for the home side. He claimed 4/56 from 12 overs.
Oliver Gallimore made 48 with four fours and three sixes as Rode Park recovered from a poor start. Bebbington then added 35 with five fours and six, but he was starting to run out of partners as Elworth chipped away at their batting order. Jon Gallimore made 29 with five fours late on for the home side, but they were eventually bowled out for 194 in the 56th over. McKay claimed 3/37 from 13 to be the pick of the bowlers for the visitors. Alex Banks, Stephen Morgan and Harry Newton all claimed two wickets each to help complete the victory.
