With Shropshire’s D40 pursuit season over, I thought I’d have a look back at their season. I’m going to look back at the games, and then at the end, I’ll do a list of leading run scorers, highest wicket takers and the players with the safest hands.
Cheshire vs Yorkshire @ Allscott Heath CC 26th April.
Cheshire 115 all out (Woodhouse 30, Marshall 28, Wills 3/15, Spooner 3/21)

Yorkshire won by 5 wickets.
Yorkshire vs Cheshire @ Higham CC. 10th May.

Shropshire 73 all out (Cooper 20, Baxter 4/25, Wills 3/17)
Yorkshire won by 117 runs.
Shropshire suffered back-to-back defeats against a very strong Yorkshire side. They were outplayed in both games as Yorkshire showed their prowess with bat and ball. It was a good learning experience for the Shropshire lads as they moved onwards with their season.
Shropshire vs Lancashire 2’s @ Calverhall CC 7th June.
Lancashire 228/4 (O’Neill 58, Preece 62, Graham 77*)
Shropshire 229/2 (Marshall 75, C. Rigby 76, Cooper 24*)
Shropshire won by 8 wickets.
Lancashire vs Shropshire.
Shropshire conceded.
An excellent batting performance at Calverhall saw Shropshire to a fine victory before they had to concede the return fixture on Father’s Day due to a lack of numbers.
Warwickshire vs Shropshire @ The Lant 5th July.
Shropshire 202/8 (Marshall 35, Baker 48, C. Rigby 58, Gibbs 4/29, Pugh 2/34)
Warwickshire 205/8 (Irshad 76*, Hudda 59, Harrison 3/29, Rigby 3/36)
Warwickshire won by 2 wickets.
Shropshire came out on the wrong side of a close game on their trip down to Warwickshire. It was a case of so near, but yet so far for the visitors.
Shropshire vs Cheshire @ Norton-In-Hales CC 19th July.
Cheshire 154 all out (Abraham 51, Potts 20*, Marshall 4/32, Cooper 2/16, Harrison 2/25)

It was a great honour to be invited to cover Shropshire’s season. Although I was only able to attend two matches, I thoroughly enjoyed them, and it opened my eyes to what disability cricket was really like. I hope to cover you again next season, and I hope you all winter well.
All the best, The Cover Driver.
